Many of us might use our laptop daily for gaming, home office work, or just for surfing the internet. So, of course, we get frustrated when our computer is running slow. It puts a halt to work and messes up deadlines. It ruins the entire experience of using your laptop in the first place. If you want to buy new laptop, don’t forget to go through list of best computer brands.

When this happens, we often don’t know what to do. Most times, we are told to either turn it off and back on again or check the WiFi. The spinning ball, however, reappears, and we are back at the first step. You’re dying for a solution. Check out this list of things that could make your laptop run slow.

Programs in the Background

You may have way too many programs running at the same time. This often slows your laptop, making it work harder. Too many of us don’t realize it’s not necessary to have 20 applications opened at one time. Further, your laptop will probably heat up the more it’s overworked.

Hard Drive Space

We can all admit we’re all guilty about putting too much stuff on our laptops. Often, we don’t have the space to hold a lot of videos or documents. This can cause the computer to lock up where you’ll see the never-ending spinning ball. The drive is a specific size. You could be pushing it to hold all the information it can handle. Consider reading these laptop problems most have experienced.

Virus

Viruses are starting to become a lot more common. Years ago, it seemed impossible for new computers to get one. Now, you must have a virus protector on your laptop and desktop computer. A computer virus is never fun, and they can quickly bring a laptop’s operation to a crawl. It might even take over the keystrokes if you’re not careful. If the virus has your frozen your computer, it could be eating away at your entire system.

Corrupt Hard Drive

Some of us have had our computers for years. We never think that the hard drive could go bad or be corrupt. This is one of the worse things you can experience with a laptop since all of your information is on the threatened system. If you’re not careful, you could lose your files forever. Most times a corrupt hard drive will give you other problems before it actually stops working.

Drivers Need Updating

We often don’t take the time to update all of our drivers for our laptop. Each time you keep ignoring the update message, your computer will eventually slow down or stop working altogether. Drivers out of date will give you problems down the road.

How Do I Fix it?

One way to fix a slow laptop is first to check the number of applications that you have open. If it’s more than five, then consider closing them. Always be mindful of how much space you have on the hard drive. You can check this by clicking “about this computer” to get the size of the drive. Consider moving some of your documents or photos over to a separate USB disk. This frees up more space. It’s not uncommon to get a pesky virus that might chew away at your system before you can stop it. Your laptop might start running slow after you’ve downloaded an application from an unknown site. A corrupt hard drive begins to show it’s bad side by slowing down your laptop. Always check the status of your hard drive to prevent a crash. Don’t get into the habit of ignoring driver updates. You laptop depends on newly installed drivers to function. If they are outdated, click on the new drivers offered.

These are some reasons as to why your laptop might be running slow. Make sure to keep only one or two apps open. Often, when you close a few, your laptop regains its speed. This way, your computer doesn’t work as hard. Use a diagnostic tool to determine the strength of your hard drive, so it doesn’t suddenly crash. If it does, go to this link to learn more about laptop service near you. Take note to all drivers that need updating. For your laptop to keep functioning correctly, you must update all drives when requested.
