With mobile phones becoming a part of everyday life for virtually every single human being in the world, developers have always had a hard task when it comes to creating new and exciting apps for us to download and experience. Put bluntly, there are so many out there.
But with the advancement in technology – particularly mobile phone technology – we’ve seen a sharp rise in the quality of applications on offer to us and a real increase in terms of sophistication and all-round usability. Frankly, there’s an app for everything. Whether you’re trying to locate a highly rated local Italian restaurant or catching Pokemon from your car, there’s an app out there and all at the touch of a button. We’re spoilt, really.
So, with a number of mobile apps released all the time – with some good and some not so good – we thought we’d narrow down the best Android apps in 2019 so you can give them a go for yourself.
1. 1Weather
Regarded by many as the best weather app, 1Weather features a simple, paginated design which reveals the weather currently, the forecast for up to 12 weeks, a radar and a number of other fun stats that might interest you. Alongside its customisable widgets, you’ll also receive severe weather warnings and, with the radar, you can keep track of any storms that may be approaching. An easy to grasp, clear weather app, 1Weather is easily one of the best of its kind.
2. Pocket Casts
If you’re someone who likes to dim the lights, crack open a beer, load up games like God of Storms and listen to your favourite podcast or two, then this app is perfect for you.
A beautifully designed app, Pocket Casts allows you to download and stream various podcasts for your enjoyment, featuring both audio-only and video podcasts – so you can basically watch and listen to anything. It’s recommendations function is particularly helpful, but so too is its sign-in feature so you can sync your podcasts across devices. If you’re a listener of podcasts, then you simply have to give this app a try.
3. TickTick
Covering the basics like recurring tasks, reminders, push notifications, various organisational features and categories, TickTick has to be one of the best to-do list apps available to download. Also allowing you to share tasks and categories with others, this is the perfect family app or ideal if you’re part of a team or a group. Alongside the fact that it’s easy to grasp, TickTick is the ideal application for all your grocery shopping needs, alongside a whole host of other options that it can perform.
4. Solid Explorer
Certainly not as fun as Instagram but a necessity for some, this file browsing app is pretty much as good as it gets. With its slick design, easy to use functionality and its general stable feel, this has to be up there as one of the best file managers on Android. It features Material Design, archiving support, support for the most popular cloud services, and even the likes of FTP, SFPT, WebDav, and SMB/CIFS support.
5. LastPass Password Manager
A password manager that lets you save your login credentials in a safe and secure way, LastPass is a must-have Android app. Also helping you generate nearly impossible to crack passwords for your accounts, this is the perfect application of its kind. Controlled with a master password and with cross-platform support so you can use it on computers, tablets, mobiles and others, LastPass is a friendly and – most importantly of all – secure app.
